The Phantom I

What is this phantom
that claims to live a personal reality?

What is this ego,
so full of self-importance,
this phantom mired in its own doo-doo,
and demanding that the world
should conform to its desires
of what truth should be?

A passing blip – no more,
in a sea of infinite energy –
Not even that,
and yet the world makes so much of it.

In doo-doo veritas –
but with it goes the aroma
which accompanies that sort of progress.

Release that old man –
Phantom be gone!
Et voilà – in veritatis amore!

And the phantom has been vanquished
once and for all, for in that vast and abiding
love it could never have really existed.
